Spring air rifles are powered by a spring attached to a piston which is compressed then quickly released which pushes the air through to the barrel pushing the pellet out. Spring Air rifles come in two main versions;
- Break Barrel airguns break open at the breech to load the pellet and the barrel is pulled down to compress the spring, cocking the gun.
- Under Lever airguns have a fixed barrel with a lever underneath it wich is pulled to cock the gun, the advantage with this is that the barrel never moves, arguably decreasing the chance of moving the point of impact from zero.
